The best Goose Goose Duck alternative depends on what your group wants to change. Reducing installation friction, learning fewer roles, and moving to a discussion-only game are three different goals.
If your friends already enjoy Goose Goose Duck's roles and voice, staying with it may be the right decision. An alternative should solve a real problem for the group.

The three named games support playing with a private friend group. Banana Society is the browser option here; a store page opened in a browser is not itself browser gameplay.
Banana Society runs in each player's desktop browser. Its Citizens collect and sort bananas while Eaters secretly eat them, steal from carriers, and trip them. Eating builds visible belly evidence, so the argument can center on what happened to a stack of bananas.
The recommended group is 6–12. Guests can join a room invitation without an account. Practice bots let you learn movement and interactions before organizing people, but they do not replace the social side of a human group.
Choose it for an easy browser entry and physical, visible interactions. If your main requirement is dependable phone play, it is not the intended fit.
Compare voice honestly
Goose Goose Duck's publisher advertises proximity voice and PC, Mac, iOS, and Android availability. Those are reasons some groups may prefer it.
Banana Society's in-game voice depends on the server configuration. Check Options before planning around it. Council text and emotes are available, and a separate call can handle group conversation.
Do not confuse “we can use Discord” with identical voice rules. A separate call can let people hear each other when proximity voice would not. Agree on a convention that suits your group.
A lower-complexity first night
Try one game with its default setup before introducing custom rules. Explain the team objectives, demonstrate one interaction, and let everyone complete a learning round.
For Banana Society, a short collection trip and a practice vote are more useful than explaining every tactical possibility. The rules page and hosting checklist cover that sequence.
For a discussion-only alternative, nominate a moderator in advance. Removing installation does not remove the organizational work of private roles and night actions.
